The Grillo "LaCuba" by Rallo has been defined as "the wine that comes from the sea" for its deeply mineral and saline expressive strength that reveals, from the very first sip, the territory from which it comes. It is indeed a white wine with a strong territorial connotation, the result of the historic estate of Cantine Rallo called Piane Liquide, located on the sandy soils of the Marsala coast, very close to the sea and adjacent to the Trapani salt pans. It bears the name of an ancient palace built by the Norman king William II in the 12th century in Palermo and is now considered one of the important and splendid examples of Arab-Norman architecture. This reference testifies to how for Rallo quality wine is a cultural fact closely linked to history and, more broadly, to the traditions and historical testimonies that have made Sicily a unique land rich in suggestions.

The Grillo "LaCuba" comes from Marsala bush-trained vines over 20 years old, rooted in the sandy and saline soil of Piane Liquide, within the Natural Reserve of the islands of the Stagnone of Marsala. The marine and brackish environment, where ancient Phoenician colonies once stood and where the salt pans now stretch, characterizes the grapes with a decidedly fresh aromatic profile, rich in iodine and saltiness. In the historic cellars of Marsala, vinification takes place in large acacia barrels of 50 hl and aging in smaller barrels of 10 hl for 6 months. In this way, the sharp, vertical, and saline profile of the territory is softened and rounded by contact with the wood in a rich and balanced synthesis. Thus, the perfect union between man and territory, which constitutes the winery's strength, is clearly manifested.
