The Kerner "Luxs" by Niklas is one of the most interesting wines from this small family-run estate that manages a property near Lake Caldaro. This grape variety, created from a cross between Schiava Grossa and Riesling, has acclimatized very well in South Tyrol and produces wines that are very aromatic and have particularly intense aromas. The white Kerner "Luxs" originates in South Tyrol, specifically in the area between Termeno and Lake Caldaro, where the Niklas winery is located. This area has been one of the cradles of viticulture in the region for centuries. Thanks to the predominantly limestone-based soils, with the presence of pebbles and clays, and sunny and ventilated exposures, both red and white grapes reach excellent ripeness. The 7 hectares of vineyard are divided into various parcels, located at different altitudes, so that each grape variety can be planted in the most climatically suitable place.suitable. The Kerner "Luxs" wine by Niklas is produced with the best bunches from the vineyards cultivated in the locations of Muttergarten, Lavardi, and Trifall at altitudes between 460 and 510 meters above sea level. The grapes undergo a brief cold maceration followed by the classic white winemaking with low-temperature fermentation, partly in steel and partly in oak barrels. Before bottling, the wine rests for 5 months in stainless steel tanks. It presents a straw-yellow color with bright greenish reflections. The bouquet opens with intense aromas of citrus, ripe fruit, peaches, apricots, tropical fruit, and a slight spicy nuance. On the palate, it has a good structure, juicy and expressive, with a full and satisfying sip, finishing with fresh and savory notes.
