The 'Montalcino - Castello di Banfi' box is a fine wooden box that effectively introduces the style of the Ilcinese wines of the renowned Banfi estate. This winery was founded in 1978 by the Italo-American brothers John and Harry Mariani, who, driven by passion and with the support of the expert oenologist Ezio Rivella, started the wine business in the southern part of Montalcino. Fundamental to the success of the project were the far-sighted zoning studies and careful clonal selection that Banfi undertook in the early 1980s, laying the foundations for the estate's international success.
The 'Castello di Banfi - Montalcino' Box takes the form of a refined wooden box containing a bottle of Rosso di Montalcino and a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino signed Castello Banfi. For the production of Rosso di Montalcino, pure Sangiovese Grosso grapes are used, vinified in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature before maturation in large casks and French oak barriques, containers in which the wine rests for 12 months before bottling. This Rosso is characterised by its fresh and fruity character, while also possessing a certain structure and complexity. The Brunello di Montalcino is also made from only Sangiovese Grosso, this time vinified partly in steel tanks and partly in French oak vats. Ageing for at least 24 months in large barrels and French oak barriques then contributes to the expressive depth of this Brunello, endowed with articulate aromas of fine spices.
Thanks to its refined wooden case and its precious contents, the Box Banfi 'Castello di Banfi - Montalcino' is a perfect gift to introduce friends, colleagues or relatives to the world of Sangiovese Grosso di Montalcino.
