Nero d'Avola Baglio di Pianetto 2024
Organic and biodynamic
Perfect to drink every dayThe Nero d'Avola from Baglio di Pianetto is a Sicilian red wine with a particularly fruity and juicy aromatic profile: it presents itself visually with a purple-red color of excellent intensity and expresses on the nose hints of cherries and plums and floral notes of lavender, framed by slightly herbal details. On the palate it is dry and has good smoothness, balanced with freshness and its slight sapidity.
The Nero d'Avola from Baglio di Pianetto is a Sicilian wine made from the most famous and widespread indigenous red grape variety of the Island. The delicate winemaking and aging exclusively in steel highlight the desire to prioritize elegance, freshness, and the fruity fragrance of the grape aromas. It is a wine meant to be enjoyed young, appreciated for its harmony and balance.
The Nero d'Avola is produced at the Baglio di Pianetto estate, located in Contrada Barone, in the heart of the Val di Noto, the true historical cradle of this ancient Sicilian grape variety. It is a vineyard of about 5 hectares with vines trained to a spurred cordon, situated in a warm and dry climate on poor, calcareous-clay soils that naturally keep yields low, limited by pruning to a few buds. After the manual harvest and selection of the best bunches, destemming and a very gentle pressing of the grapes take place. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures, with skin maceration, accompanied by punchdowns and pumpovers. The wine ages in steel tanks for 14 months and then for 3 months in the bottle.
The Baglio di Pianetto Nero d'Avola is a young and simple version of this classic and iconic Sicilian wine. A label that is appreciated for its immediacy and its typically varietal character. In the glass, it presents a rather intense purple-red color. The bouquet is fragrant with aromas of ripe cherry, sour cherry, plum, red fruit, and hints of herbal notes. On the palate, it has a good structure, with a rich and satisfying fruit center, fine tannins, and a balanced finish that closes on pleasantly fresh and Mediterranean notes reminiscent of summer.
