Nizza Sette 2021

The Nizza from the small winemaking reality of Sette is a rich and juicy Barbera that stands as the most prestigious label of this sincerely artisanal estate. In fact, in the production of this Nizza DOCG, grapes from old vineyards characterized by the best exposures and planted on the most complex soils have been used. To enhance all this, the winemaking process involves very few targeted and absolutely non-invasive interventions, aimed at elevating the most authentic expression of the territory.

Sette Nizza comes from only Barbera grapes from a parcel over 80 years old in age and from two other small vineyards, all located in the Bricco di Nizza, in the heart of the denomination. The plants, rooted in complex and rather poor soils, are cultivated following the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The grapes are hand-picked and then transferred to the winery, where they are pressed for spontaneous alcoholic fermentation with submerged cap maceration. The racking is carried out based on tastings, without a precise rule, and the mass is subsequently directed into 50 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels for aging for several months, followed by an additional period of rest in concrete tanks before bottling. Finally, after at least 10 months of resting in glass, the wine is ready for market release.

In the glass, the Nizza from the artisanal winery Sette reveals an intense ruby red color with purple reflections. On the nose, generous and dense aromas of cherry, blackberry, violet, and thyme emerge, enriched by hints of sweet spices like cinnamon and cocoa powder. On the palate, it is rich yet fine, with a full body and enveloping warmth that coexist harmoniously with the juicy freshness and the round tannic texture.
