Organic and biodynamicThe Lecinaro del Frusinate "Palmieri" from the DS Bio winery is an authentic and tasty red wine from Lazio perfect for trying something new. This label is made with carefully selected grapes of the same name and a winemaking process using only indigenous yeasts. The light red color with violet reflections introduces floral and fruity notes with hints of spices. The fresh, agile, juicy, and drinkable sip floods the palate.
“Palmieri” from the DS Bio winery represents the pure expression of a grape that is absolutely typical of this part of inland Lazio: Lecinaro is a black grape variety saved from extinction precisely thanks to the tireless work of the farmers in these mountains. Danilo Scenna, the young founder of the estate, shows what it means to have the courage to venture onto new paths and allows the enthusiast to engage with something truly surprising and at the same time profoundly ancient.
“Palmieri” is the Lecinaro del Frusinate produced by DS Bio from the youngest vines present on the estate: these are vines planted in 2016, in one of the 12 plots into which the small property is divided, covering just under 3 hectares. The territory is rugged, located at an altitude of about 630 meters above sea level, with very varied slopes and exposures, among which it is necessary to choose very carefully which plot to work. The soil of this vineyard is loose, draining, with a soil that has a peculiar presence of limestone and on which the plants, cultivated according to the dictates of biodynamic farming, thrive with a planting density of 3,500 vines per hectare.peculiar presence of limestone where the plants, cultivated according to the dictates of biodynamic farming, thrive with a planting density of 3,500 vines per hectare. The harvest is done by hand, while for vinification only steel containers are used: spontaneous fermentation by indigenous yeasts is accompanied throughout its duration of about 20 days by skin maceration. After racking, the red wine ages for a few months in steel tanks before bottling, which is done without filtration or clarification.
The appearance of the Lecinaro del Frusinate “Palmieri” by DS Bio is a surprising light red, with youthful violet reflections. The aromas are intense and inviting, with dark notes of violet and marasca, a touch of ripe plum, accompanied by spicy hints of a certain Eastern complexity. On the palate, it is juicy, with fruity references and a lively freshness, while also being elegant, with soft hints and a persistent finish. A red that is a sure territorial interpretation and that we can pair with a rustic roast chicken and medium-aged cheeses.
