Petit Manseng Casale del Giglio 2025
The Petit Mansang from Casale del Giglio is a fresh and fruity white, well-rooted in the territory of the Agro Pontino in Lazio. Exclusively vinified in steel tanks, it releases fragrant sensations of exotic fruit and citrus on the nose, offering a soft, slender sip with a beautiful savory finish.
The Petit Manseng from Casale del Giglio is an intense white, with an aromatic and slightly spicy profile, typical of this noble French grape variety originating from the distant region of the Pyrenees. It is a variety cultivated in Italy only in a few areas and in a scattered manner, but in the Agro Pontino it has shown that it can express characterful wines, endowed with a strong varietal personality, with dense and ripe aromas of great harmony and tastefulness.
The white Petit Manseng is produced by Casale del Giglio following a process of research and selection of the grape varieties that best adapted to the particular pedoclimatic conditions of the lands of the Agro Pontino. This variety, coming from the Pyrenean region of Jurançon, has proven to express itself at excellent qualitative levels and has now become a pleasant confirmation of a well-placed initial choice. The grapes ripen perfectly, always maintaining good freshness. Furthermore, the thick skin also allows the clusters to push towards a slight overripening, without fearing mold or damage to the small berries. After a brief cold maceration, at a temperature of 7-8 °C for 10-12 hours, the grapes are pressed very gently and the must is started to fermentation that lasts about ten days. It rests on the lees for about 6 months in steel tanks before being bottled.
The Petit Manseng Casale del Giglio has the merit of making known the characteristics and potentials that this interesting French grape variety can express in central Italy and in particular along the Tyrrhenian coast. In the glass, it has a brilliant straw yellow appearance. The olfactory profile is intense and ripe, with aromas of tropical fruit, ripe yellow fruit, dried fruit, citrus notes, and delicately spicy hints. The sip is rich and aromatic, with good taste complexity and a refreshing finish, which returns to memories of oriental spices.
