'Pietrobianco' Daniele Portinari 2022
Artisanal"Pietrobianco" is a white wine from Vicenza zone obtained by Friulano and Pinot Bianco. It is made with artisanal methods, without using chemical fertilizer and with spontaneous fermentation made by indigenous yeast. Warm and pleasant, it shows clear scents of citrus and grapefruit, herbal notes of thyme and an almond finish. The sip shows elderflower, with a fresh full body.
“Pietrobianco” is a blend of white grapes that Daniele Portinari named after his second son Pietro, who speaks out among the sinuous southeastern Colli Berici. Alonte, a small village in the province of Vicenza, hosts the rows of vines from this winery, which are cultivated following a natural philosophy. Daniele, in fact, avoids the use of chemical interventions at any stage of production of his labels, using exclusively minimally invasive treatments with copper or sulfur and reducing the doses of these as the years go by. Together with the Vinnatur association, made up of 170 winemakers with the same approach, information and experiments in the vineyard are shared, with the precise aim of giving a better and future life to this land, leaving a legacy superior to future generations.
Daniele Portinari with his “Pietrobianco” combines Friulano grapes, formerly Tocai, also known as Tai Bianco, with Pinot Blanc. The soils are clayey-limestone and the harvest takes place exclusively manually, to ensure that the berries are not damaged, during the end of August. The spontaneous fermentation occurs naturally, through the intervention of exclusively indigenous yeasts and is left to decant in stainless steel tanks. It is subsequently bottled without undergoing any type of filtration.
“Pietrobianco” is a white wine that loudly expresses the philosophy of Daniele Portinari's winery, which has the great goal of making knowledge the true means to obtain natural wines. From a light straw yellow, accompanied by golden hues, the “Pietrobianco” gives us fresh hints of grapefruit and green apple pulp, with a young floral twist of elderflower and acacia. The tasting is clear in citrus notes and direct, almost cutting, its fullness is accompanied by good sapidity, with a fresh finish that cleanses the palate. A meticulous and well-executed work for the naturalness of these labels.
