Pinot Nero '850' Rosset 2024
The Pinot Noir “850” by Rosset is an intense and mountainous red, mineral and territorial. The Pinot Noir has found a new dimension in the Alpine arc and Rosset excellently expresses the Aosta Valley style. On the nose, notes of ripe red fruits and delicate spices are perceived, blending with elegant hints of violet. On the palate, it is fresh, mineral, and savory, but also full-bodied and refined. With great persistence, it is a perfect Pinot to accompany spicy meat stews.
The Pinot Nero ‘850’ from the Aosta Valley winery Rosset represents a fresh and juicy interpretation of this famous Burgundy-origin grape variety. It is well known among industry insiders that Pinot Nero yields the best results in cool climates, which enhance its elegant aromatic heritage and crisp freshness. Aware of this, the Rosset estate cultivates its Pinot Nero vineyards at high altitudes in the alpine climate of the Aosta Valley, a territory where this variety has found an ideal habitat.
‘850’ Rosset Pinot Nero is an expression of the eponymous black grape variety grown in the Saint Pierre area, west of the city of Aosta. The young vines rest on sandy soils located at an altitude of 600 meters above sea level. Usually, in the first decade of October, manual harvesting takes place, followed by the pressing of the grapes in French oak barrels where alcoholic fermentation occurs in contact with the skins and at controlled temperature, in order to preserve all the aromatic heritage of the grapes. The subsequent aging period lasts for 12 months and takes place in French oak barriques until bottling. This is followed by a short period of rest in glass before the final market release.
In the glass, the Rosset Pinot Nero ‘850’ displays an intense ruby red color. The aromatic profile unfolds with fragrant sensations of violet, blackberry, and cherry, enriched by deep hints of clove and wet stone. The taste development is soft, fresh, and elegant, quite savory and fragrant, characterized by a delightful velvety tannic structure. The persistent finish recalls the fruity, floral, and spicy notes perceived on the nose.
