The Redigaffi by Tua Rita is a wine that rightfully belongs to that select circle of wines considered a diamond in terms of quality, expression, and innate elegance perceptible on the palate. Celebrated and acclaimed from many quarters, it knows how to be desired and astonishes. A demanding and unattainable wine, it takes its name from the river that flows alongside the winery.

The creation of a wine now recognized worldwide as a highly coveted author wine perhaps was not in the plans of the two owners of the winery, Rita Tua and Virgilio Bisti; but in 1994, the couple, always with the clear intention of seeking the best territorial expression through their wines, uncompromising and of extreme quality, understood that from two barriques of only Merlot, taken from Giusto di Notri, a liquid with unattainable nuances was born. The vines from which Redigaffi is obtained are 30 years old and since 1992 among the rows moves what can now be considered as one of the leading winemakers internationally, Luca D’Attoma. The latter was able to best express his skills here by choosing dense and low plantings, reminiscent of Bordeaux, with a management system aimed at better yield and pursuing organic cultivation. In seeking the best expressiveness, D’Attoma himself understood that the central area of the gently sloping land, with clayey, silty soil and the presence of small skeleton, was better suited to be planted with only Merlot. The Redigaffi is the result of a careful selection of the best grapes that are chosen parcel by parcel. Once they arrive at the winery, they are fermented with only indigenous yeasts exclusively in oak wood vats, and the maceration on the skins involves several pump-overs to extract the maximum concentration clearly evident in the glass. The aging of the wine lasts 18-20 months in barrique of French oak, followed by a short period of rest in the bottle.

The Redigaffi is bright ruby red in appearance. On the nose, one can perceive sensations of crunchy red fruit, oriental spices, cumin, tobacco, subtle balsamic notes on a light cocoa powder, red flowers, freshly worked leather, and a mineral quality that is almost ferrous. On the palate, it reveals great balance, it is warm, fresh, with rampant tannins that traverse the elegantly long finish. Concentrated terroir and bearer of unique stories, here lies the secret of its great richness.
