Rosso frizzante 'Rio Mora' Emilio Montesissa
Emilio Montesissa's Rosso Rio Mora is a sparkling wine dry and spicy, pleasantly drinkable, with good intensity and freshness, a texture of fine tannins and excellent balance
The sparkling red wine "Rio Mora" beautifully embodies the tradition of Piacenza, home of the Montesissa winery, with a liquid with a rare gastronomic vocation. The luxury of simplicity, some would say, is not to be confused with banality since the wines of the Montesissa winery are resounding precisely by virtue of their direct, essential, rustic and engaging personality. An extraordinary land as far as rich and flavorful preparations and products are concerned, Emilia is the true home of bottle-fermented wines, the only ones that are able to degrease and tamp down the mighty local cuisine in a convincing way. So the vines are traditional ones such as Barbera, Bonarda, Malvasia di Candia and Ortrugo, which Elisabetta tends without forced interventionism or prevarication and using only a little copper and sulfur. Lively and sincere bottles are mostly offered at a truly unbeatable price when compared to the quality of the liquids.
The Rosso Frizzante "Rio Mora" is made from red grapes that come from vines growing on hilly terrain. In the vineyard, as already mentioned, the use of any chemical or synthetic substance is banned, using both in the vineyard and in the cellar only a little copper and sulfur. In the cellar, we continue with the first spontaneous alcoholic fermentation and, after a stop on the fine lees, with re-fermentation in the bottle typical of the local tradition. The liquid does not undergo any clarification or filtration.
The "Rio Mora" fills the glass with its intense ruby robe and generous bubble. Intense nose and declared in its intent, made of blackberries, wet earth and dark spices, with a profile that immediately brings back to its land of origin. On tasting, the wine is satisfying and contrasts a juicy incipit with a dry, rigorous finish by virtue of freshness and tannic friction. President of the daily table, ad honorem.
