Roero Rosso 'Valmaggiore - Vigna Audinaggio' Cascina Ca' Rossa 2021

The Roero Rosso “Valmaggiore Audinaggio” from Cascina Ca’ Rossa is a pure Nebbiolo produced on the left bank of the Tanaro, the famous river that divides Roero from Langhe. The microclimate of the area and the particularly suited soils allow the great Piedmontese grape variety to express itself at high qualitative levels with a particularly fine and elegant profile. A refined, floral, and fruity red, which, thanks to a long aging in barrique, offers rich tertiary evolutions and a beautiful longevity.

The wine “Valmaggiore Audinaggio” is produced with grapes coming from the Valmaggiore area, a true cru, located in the municipality of Vezza d’Alba. The Roero area is made up of a wonderful territory, with hills often characterized by steep slopes. The soils are more recent compared to those of Langhe and are mainly composed of sands rich in marine fossils. They are suitable for both white grape varieties and Nebbiolo. The vineyards are managed according to the principles of organic farming and cover a total area of about 13 hectares. The vineyard is trained in Guyot on sandy soils and is located at an altitude between 220 and 270 meters above sea level, with a southwest exposure. At the end of the manual harvest, fermentation takes place with maceration on the skins for about 25 days. The liquid matures for 18 months in French oak barriques, partly new and partly used.

The “Valmaggiore Audinaggio” from Cascina Ca’ Rossa is a classic Nebbiolo from the Roero area, less powerful and tannic than the wines from Langhe and more ready to drink immediately with great pleasure. In the glass, it has a garnet red color. On the nose, it expresses a delicate bouquet with aromas of dried flowers, hints of oriental spices, on a background of small red berry fruits. On the palate, it has good structure, with elegant and complex aromas, fine and evolved tannic texture, a fresh and persistent finish
