Sagrantino di Montefalco Adanti 2016
The Sagrantino by Adanti is a robust, important, and complex wine, aged in large barrels for 30 months. The olfactory spectrum is played on dark tones of tar, graphite, juniper, and black fruit. The sip is very full-bodied, with an important and well-integrated tannic structure.
The Sagrantino di Montefalco is a robust red, with a lively tannic texture and a deep, complex soul, with aromas on the nose that gracefully and elegantly transport us into the rows of Arquata and Colcimino, the terroir where the roots of the Adanti winery's vineyards sink. A historic production reality of the Montefalco area, always attentive to creating quality products in respect of the territory and its ancient traditions. Just like this Sagrantino, a label that makes its austere structure its calling card, for a full and satisfying drink.
The red wine Sagrantino di Montefalco is produced by the Adanti winery starting from the symbol grape of Umbrian viticulture, the Sagrantino. The grapes grow within two different plots of land, characterized by a clayey, sandy, and calcareous subsoil, situated at an altitude ranging from 250 to 360 meters above sea level. Once harvested, the grapes are destemmed and fermented in steel tanks for 21-24 days. The aging phase then continues, lasting first for 30 months in large barrels, and then, after bottling, for another 12 months directly in glass.
This Sagrantino di Montefalco made by the Adanti winery presents itself with a bright color reminiscent of garnet. Layered and rich on the nose, played on austere notes, where spices and fruity aromas blend with deep notes of tar and graphite. On the palate, it has excellent body, vigorous and muscular, with a noticeable tannic grip; the sip is balanced, without any rough edges. A great Umbrian red, which finds its gastronomic consecration with dishes based on game or red meat, as well as with blue and aged cheeses.
