The Sagrantino "Collenottolo" is a full-bodied and intense red wine, soft and smooth, with a significant tannic structure, featuring a bouquet of berries and lavender that gives way to incense and graphite on the finish. It ages for 36 months in large Slavonian oak barrels.

The Montefalco Sagrantino ‘Collenottolo’ from the Umbrian estate Tenuta Bellafonte represents a typically full and structured expression of the denomination, at the highest quality levels of the Montalcino area. The winery was founded in 2008 by Peter Heilbron, who in just a few years has managed to establish his estate in the wine scene of Montefalco. The name of the estate comes from the translation of the producer's German origin name, as “heil” means “well-being”, beauty in a broad sense, while “bron” translates to “source”.

Tenuta Bellafonte ‘Collenottolo’ Montefalco Sagrantino comes from the homonymous pure black grape variety grown in the area of Torre del Colle, within the municipality of Bevagna. The vines are about 20 years old and rest on soils composed of clay alternating with layers of marls and sandstones, at an altitude ranging from 250 to 320 meters above sea level. In the winery, the grapes are destemmed but not crushed and the alcoholic fermentation occurs spontaneously in contact with the skins thanks to the sole intervention of indigenous yeasts. The subsequent aging phase takes place in large Slavonian oak barrels for 36 months, followed by at least 12 months of further refinement in bottle before being released on the market. Throughout the entire production process, the use of clarification and filtration operations is excluded.

The Montefalco Sagrantino ‘Collenottolo’ from Tenuta Bellafonte is of intense ruby red color. From the glass emerge vivid aromas of ripe blackberry and blueberry, licorice, citrus, dark spices, and medicinal herbs, with a peculiar finish reminiscent of incense and graphite. Full-bodied and elegant on the palate, where the intense tannin is accompanied by a nice freshness describing a long finish with great taste-olfactory correspondence.
