The Saint-Romain Blanc ‘Vieilles Vignes’ from Domaine de Bellene is a Chardonnay from Burgundy characterized by mineral and dried fruit aromas. The AOC of Saint-Romain takes its name from the homonymous small village located in the Côte de Beaune, just west of the municipalities of Auxey-Duresses, Meursault, Volnay, and Pommard, which is situated at a slightly higher altitude that determines a cooler microclimate. This condition has proven particularly favorable in recent times due to climate warming, with the grapes reaching full ripeness while preserving acidity and aromatic compounds.
The ‘Vieilles Vignes’ Domaine de Bellene Saint-Romain Blanc is made from pure Chardonnay grapes from vines with an average age of 55 years, with the oldest planted back in 1930, cultivated within 7 different adjacent parcels covering almost 2 hectares in total. The soil consists of clay and limestone, the exposure ranges from south to east, and the altitude approaches 380 meters above sea level.sea. The agronomic management adheres to the principles of organic farming and the harvest is carried out only when the grapes have reached full ripeness.
