The Savigny Les Beaune Blanc from Domaine de Bellene encapsulates all the class and charm of Burgundy, in an extraordinary terroir adherence white. Burgundy is undeniably the most dreamed-of and sought-after territory by wine enthusiasts, due to a sort of mystical aura that surrounds it. Not without reason, one might add, given the quality of the wines produced in this strip approximately 50 km long that seems to be designed by a higher entity specifically for viticulture. Nicolas Potel, a crystalline talent, decides with this little gem to showcase his hand in winemaking, which can be described as extremely classic and non-invasive. Few, great bottles!
The Savigny Les Beaune Blanc wine is produced from pure Chardonnay grapes, coming from a small plot of 1.66 hectares located at about 320 meters above sea level. South-southeast exposure and clay-limestone soils outline a picture in which Nicolas participates in winemaking attentively but always in a non-intrusive manner. In the vineyard, chemical or synthetic substances are banned, and the grapes are hand-picked. The process continuessubsequently with spontaneous fermentation and malolactic fermentation both in oak barrels, the same ones in which the wine will rest for a few months before bottling.
The Savigny Les Beaune white Domaine De Bellene reveals itself in the glass with a transparent straw-yellow hue. The nose is a compendium of the indissoluble union between Chardonnay and Burgundy, hinting at why it reaches its peak here. Clarified butter, golden apple, pastry, balsamic notes, puffs of salt: a picture of crystalline clarity, emblematic. However, it is on the palate that the wine reveals all its texture, driven by an extremely refined saline structure that supports the sip. Then againbuttery richness and freshness, a typical combination of great Chardonnay. Beautiful bottle, with few equals in terms of quality-price ratio.
