The sparkling white 'Scialari' from the Sicilian winery Feudo Principi di Butera is characterized as a smooth and refreshing drink ideal for carefree informal aperitifs. The extensive production reality of Feudo Principi di Butera was founded in 1997 in the eponymous municipality of the province of Caltanissetta by the Zonin family, an important family of Venetian producers. They have restored to its former glory the beautiful estate once belonging to the princes of Butera, from which the name derives, successfully embarking on an ambitious project of territorial enhancement. Among the white grape varieties, the winery cultivates the indigenous Inzolia and Grillo, alongside Chardonnay.
Feudo Principi di Butera 'Scialari' consists of a blend of white grapes, grown in a Mediterranean climate characterized by the constant presence of brackish breezes. The vines rest on hilly elevations situated between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, where the soils are particularly rich in limestone and skeleton. The grapes undergo soft pressing and the must obtained is placed in stainless steel tanksfor alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature. After a few months of maturation on the fine lees, the wine is transferred to autoclave for the light sparkling process according to the Charmat Method, followed by bottling under isobaric conditions, in order to preserve the delicate effervescence of the liquid.
The 'Scialari' of Feudo Principi di Butera is a very pale straw color with a light and pleasant bubble. The nose offers floral notes of jasmine and orange blossom, accompanied by perceptions of citrus and white-fleshed fruit. Lively, light, and very drinkable, the taste has a pleasant citrus freshness and a marked mineral vein that invites further tastings.
