Vermentino 'VB1' Tenuta Selvadolce 2023
ArtisanalThe 'VB1' is a Vermentino macerated that ferments spontaneously with prolonged skin contact for 8 months in barrique. An exciting and rare marine and briny tale in liquid form, coming directly from the terraces where the grapes are sourced. Tense and enveloping sip, capable of offering freshness and savoriness. Mediterranean and balsamic on the nose, revealing sensations of pine needles, sage, and thyme.
The “VB1” from Tenuta Selvadolce is liquid Liguria. A captivating and very expressive wine, produced with the flagship grape of this region, Vermentino, skillfully vinified by Aris Bancardi, a biodynamic producer, owner of a winery “suspended over the sea”. A pure and original expression of a vineyard in a unique position, overlooking the Mediterranean and worked with extremely manual and environmentally respectful methods. A garden-vineyard, located in the hills above Bordighera, in the last stretch of western Liguria before reaching France.
The Tenuta Selvadolce Vermentino “VB1” is obtained from pure Vermentino grapes, grown in vineyards approximately 40 years old, arranged on wide terraces with predominantly calcareous-clay soil. The harvest is entirely manual and is divided into fractional pickings to ensure the perfect ripeness of each bunch. The grapes, after careful quality selection, are vinified in second and third passage barriques, where natural fermentation occurs and a short maceration on skins. It is followed by aging of about 8 months in wood on the fine lees, which gives it structure and body.
On a sensory level, the “VB1” Vermentino Selvadolce has a great olfactory and taste impact. In appearance, it presents an amber color with orange reflections; its aroma is dominated by intense notes of apricot, yellow flowers, and honey. A finish of sweet spices and dried fruit tempts the sip, fresh and mineral, balanced by a soft and pleasant tannin and a finely savory finish. An authentic, straightforward, and direct bottle that encapsulates the care and passion of a winemaker who respects and values his land. Ideal when paired with typical dishes of Ligurian cuisine, both seafood and land-based.
