The Rioja ‘Ecologico’ is a red wine immediate in its fruity aromas, belonging to the organic line of the Spanish winery Marques de Caceres. The modern organic approach embraced by the estate consists of using organic matter and natural origin fertilizers intended for both the soil and the plants, while exclusively using copper and sulfur for plant protection and resorting to plant preparations to stimulate the vine's natural resistance. The technique of sexual confusion is also adopted in the vineyard, which involves the release of hormones aimed at destabilizing harmful insects, significantly reducing their population.
Marques de Caceres 'Rioja 'Ecologico' consists of a blend of Tempranillo (75%) and Graciano (25%), sourced from vines about 20 years old cultivated according to the principles of organic farming at Finca de Barrio, on rocky soils. The harvest is done by hand, and the bunches are then selected and kept for a few hours at low temperatures. Subsequently, destemming and alcoholic fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, accompanied by 8-10 days of skin maceration. The subsequent maturation period of several months also takes place in steel, in order to preserve the purest varietal characteristics while seeking a light taste.
The Rioja 'Ecologico' Marques de Caceres has a bright ruby red color. On the nose, fruity descriptors of currant and raspberry emerge, associated with floral hints of geranium and violet. On the palate, it is delicate and silky, with soft tannins, excellent sapidity, and great aromatic persistence. A perfect Rioja to drink young due to its remarkable accessibility and immediacy.
