Brunello di Montalcino 'Castelgiocondo' Magnum Frescobaldi 2021 Ast
"Castelgiocondo" is a Brunello di Montalcino of beautiful intensity, power, and structure, aged for 4 years between large barrels and barriques. It has a rich, soft, and toasted aromatic profile, characterized by significant spiciness and notes of leather, tobacco, and berries
Brunello di Montalcino “Castelgiocondo” is a wine that embodies the passage of time and respect for tradition, a value that the Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi winery continues to emphasize in every label, even today, after 700 years of history. It is a territorial red that expresses the potential of Sangiovese within one of the most renowned terroirs in all of Tuscany, offering a powerful sip that is never out of control, always harmonious thanks to its elegant tannins. A bottle that confirms its position at the top of the entire denomination, as attested by major Italian and foreign industry magazines.
This “Castelgiocondo” Brunello di Montalcino is born from a meticulous selection of Sangiovese grapes carried out by the Frescobaldi winery team. The vineyards, facing south and southwest, are located at an optimal height, between 250 and 450 meters above sea level, and their roots dig deep into a terroir rich in sand, clay, and calcium. The grapes, once harvested during the manual harvest, ferment in steel, macerating for 30 days and also undergoing malolactic fermentation. Then it moves on to the aging phase, carried out for 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels, for another 24 months in French oak barriques, and finally, after bottling, for 4 months directly in glass.
The Brunello di Montalcino “Castelgiocondo” reveals itself visually with a ruby red color, compact and slightly opaque. On the nose, there are evident fruity aromas, enriched by spicy notes, from which a slight woody touch also emerges. On the palate, it has excellent body, broad and enveloping, round and satisfying, with a warm sip that ends with a pleasantly tannic aftertaste. The spirit of Montalcino is encapsulated by the Frescobaldi winery, a historic entity boasting several centuries of tradition in the wine world, in this great red, ideal for accompanying game-based second courses.
