Cannonau 'Noras' Santadi 2022
The Cannonau "Noras" by Santadi is a territorial red that expresses all the Mediterranean essence of Sardinia. Vinified in steel tanks and aged in second-pass barriques, it presents a dark and deep color texture. With a broad aromatic profile played on aromas of blackcurrant and juniper, violet and rose, tobacco and leather, it is full-bodied, fresh, and pleasantly tannic on the palate with a mineral finish.
The “Noras” from Santadi is an intense and sunny Cannonau, which tells the story of the territory of the island, presenting itself with a Mediterranean soul in the olfactory analysis. On the palate, it flows with a warm and well-balanced drink, where the craftsmanship of the tannic structure is appreciated, perfectly “dissolved” in the overall structure of the “Noras.” A bottle that can be left to rest for a few more years in the bottle, to then be tasted paired with grilled meats.
The “Noras” Santadi is a Cannonau that comes from the same grapes, enriched in the final blend by 10% of another Sardinian red grape, Carignano. The vines grow with the bush training system, sinking their roots into sandy soils mixed with layers of granite. The climate is arid and hot in summer and quite temperate in winter. The harvest takes place during the last decade of September, and the must obtained from the pressing phase of the grapes ferments in stainless steel tanks, also undergoing malolactic fermentation. The final aging phase takes place first for 6 months in second passage barrique, and after bottling for another six months in glass.
The Cannonau "Noras" signed by the Santadi winery presents itself to the eye with a ruby red color, crossed by light reflections tending more towards garnet at the rim. The nose is concentrated and well-defined, with initial floral notes that then shift to more fruity aromas, hinting also at tobacco and leather. Round and broad on the palate, where a captivating sip enters, moving in perfect harmony between the warmth of the sun and the freshness of the sea that serves to tame it; it ends with a mineral finish. A label that is part of the "excellence" line of the Santadi winery, and which, despite this, presents itself at a very convenient price.
