Sicilia DOC Bellifolli Insolia is a pleasant and easily approachable label produced by Valle dell’Acate, a renowned winery in the Ragusa area that cultivates 80 hectares of organic vineyards. Among the numerous territorial wines offered, Bellifolli represents the line dedicated to young people, due to its drinkability and linear, accessible character, for those seeking a taste of Sicilian wine products without excessive commitment. Inzolia, known as Ansonica in the rest of Italy, is one of the most widespread white grape varieties in Sicily. For a long time it was “relegated” to the role of blending grape for Marsala, but today it has established itself as one of the most known and appreciated Sicilian grape varieties, and more and more often pure versions are found that enhance its intrinsic quality attributes.
The Valle dell’Acate Bellifolli Insolia is vinified from only Inzolia grapes, grown on medium-textured soils with the presence of calcareous tuffs. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel at controlled temperature, in order to preserve freshness and varietal aromas. The maturation also takes place in stainless steel tanks for a period of 4 months, followed by an additional 2 months of aging in the bottle.
In the glass, the Insolia Bellifolli from Valle dell’Acate is straw yellow with delicate greenish reflections. The nose releases inviting scents of yellow-fleshed fruit, peach, cedar, fresh citrus, and white flowers that combine with hints of Mediterranean herb essences. Very fresh, fragrant and easy to drink on the palate, with a marked savory character.
