Lucido' Cusumano 2025
"Lucido" by Cusumano is a pleasant, fruity, and Mediterranean wine named after the noblest clone of Catarratto, from which it is obtained, coming from the terroir of Calatafimi, in the Trapanese, produced with cryomaceration and vinification in steel. It emanates aromas of aromatic herbs, yellow fruit, flowers, and candied citrus. The sip is dynamic, fresh, soft, and mineral.
The "Lucido" by Cusumano is a Catarratto that belongs to the line of single-varietals produced by the winery, one of the most important within the Sicilian terroir, which manages to combine quantity and quality, taking care to emphasize the oenological identity of the island, thus highlighting different native grape varieties. Just like this Catarratto, white with a Mediterranean soul, extremely versatile in the kitchen. A bottle to consider also for the interesting final price, another reason to appreciate Cusumano's work.
This Catarratto Cusumano is born from the pure use of the same white grape varieties of the "extra-lucido" clone, cultivated by the Cusumano winery in the Tenuta di Castelluzzo di Calatafimi. Here the vineyards, located at an altitude of about 450 meters above sea level and facing northwest, are characterized by a hilly profile, and the vines have an average age of about 30 years. The grapes, once harvested during the harvest phase, macerate cold in the must for 12 hours at a temperature of 8 degrees, then gently pressed; we then continue with the static decantation of the must and with the alcoholic fermentation in steel containers. Always in steel the wine continues to mature, remaining in contact with the fine lees for 4 months.
The white wine Cusumano "Lucido" reveals itself to the eye with a straw yellow color, intense and compact. We could define the nose as “Mediterranean”, with important notes of aromatic herbs, which are also enriched by the presence of more fruity sensations. On the palate it is light-bodied, flavorful, with a sip characterized by a nice dynamism and a pleasant freshness. A label with which the Cusumano winery, a major production reality of the area, continues its path aimed at enhancing the native Sicilian grape varieties.
