The Malvasia Nera "Talò" from the San Marzano winery is a red wine from Puglia with complex aromas and a decisive taste. The name of the line to which this label belongs is a dedication to a family of winemakers who take impeccable care of the land. This Malvasia, vinified in purity, undergoes a 6-month aging in French oak barrels, which gives it an intense ruby red color and sweet spicy aromas. The taste, like the aroma, is very fruity, decisive, soft, and enveloping with a persistent finish.

The Malvasia Nera “Talò” from San Marzano is a label that is part of a line specifically designed to highlight and showcase the varietal characteristics of the historically present grape varieties in Puglia. It is a red with terroir character, made from a grape that has been cultivated in Salento for centuries, belonging to the large family of Malvasia. The brief aging in wood allows the wine to achieve the right expressive harmony with interesting aromatic evolutions, while always keeping the fruity exuberance that characterizes it in the foreground. It is an ideal red to enjoy with pasta dishes dressed with meat sauces or with roasts.

“Talò” is a pure Malvasia Nera, born in one of the most important realities of Puglian wine. Cantine San Marzano manages over 1500 hectares with 1200 contributing members, who passionately cultivate their lands. The Malvasia Nera vineyards of Brindisi are located in the San Marzano area, at an altitude of about 100 meters above sea level. The vines have been planted in shallow soils, predominantly clay with sandy presence and rich of skeleton. The climate is Mediterranean, warm and dry, mitigated by the sea breezes that surround the Salento peninsula. The harvest takes place in the second half of September and the grapes are sent for fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with a maceration on the skins of about ten days. Before being released for sale, the wine matures for 6 months in French oak barriques and ages for a few months in the bottle.

The Malvasia Nera “Talò”, produced by the Puglian winery San Marzano, is a classic red from Salento, which brings the character of this wonderful sun-drenched land into the glass. Visually, it presents a rather intense and dark ruby color. The olfactory profile is broad and generous, with aromas of dark berry fruit, wild blackberry, black currant, small forest fruits, sour cherry, red-fleshed plum, soft spicy sensations and delicate nuances of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it has a medium structure, with a fine tannic texture well integrated with rich and ripe fruit. The sip is warm and enveloping, soft and harmonious, with a balanced finish that returns to pleasantly fruity and spicy notes.
