The Merlot from Villa de Puppi is a fresh, clear, soft, and structured red wine, aged in steel and barriques for at least 8 months. It has a slender, delicate, and crystalline profile, with fruity, herbaceous, and underbrush notes.

The Merlot from Villa de Puppi originates in Moimacco, in the province of Udine. The de Puppi family has been cultivating these lands for generations, descending from the Counts Guidi, lords of Poppi, who fled from Florence and took refuge in these areas to escape the conflicts between Guelphs and Ghibellines. Dante Alighieri already mentioned them in his Divine Comedy, praising their prestige and power. Since 1800, they have dedicated themselves to winemaking, passing down knowledge and tradition from generation to generation, producing wines of refined quality. In 1991, there was a radical restructuring of the historic manor buildings, aimed at modernizing cellar techniques. The working philosophy is to preserve tradition, enhancing the intrinsic qualities of the territory and raw materials with an innovative spirit directed towards the future.

The vineyards of the Merlot from Villa de Puppi are situated on land predominantly composed of Eocene marl and pebbles for wines with a structured character. They extend for about 10 hectares on the Colline di Rosazzo with a cold climate in winter with phenomenasudden snow and frost even at the beginning of spring; in summer, the temperatures are not high with a good presence of sun among the rows for a complete ripening of the grapes at harvest time. The grapes are harvested by hand and subsequently, the best bunches are selected before they arrive at the winery. After cold maceration on the skins for a few days, alcoholic fermentation takes place in steel with selected yeasts; it ages for 2-3 months in new and used barriques.

Visually, the Merlot from Villa de Puppi appears as an intense ruby red with brilliant reflections; the bouquet of aromas recalls berries such as blueberries, blackberries, currants, and wild strawberries. On the palate, it is soft, enveloping, and inviting with delicate tannins and a generally balanced structure for an interesting drink. It is recommended to pair with dishes based on mixed cured meats of medium aging, cuts of red meat cooked in stew, and risotto with vegetable seasonings. Perfect for dinners with lifelong friends to enjoy an authentic product that reflects the history and tradition of a family dedicated toalways to the world of winemaking.
