Muscadet "Perrieres Monopole" from the Domaine Gadais winery is a rich and elegant white wine perfect for accompanying fish dishes and surprising your guests. This label is made from pure Melon de Bourgogne grapes and aged in French oak barrels for 32 months. The intense straw yellow colour reveals woody, toasted and vanilla notes. The palate enjoys a full, soft, enveloping and very persistent taste

“Perrières Monopole” from Domaine Gadais is one of the remarkable interpretations of Muscadet sur lies that Cristophe Gadais, the current owner of the winery, has crafted over the decades and that today is produced within the new semi-buried winery, where all operations of movement and racking occur by gravity. This is the label that refers to the winemaking tradition followed by father Louis, the winemaker who in the 1950s founded his “Domaine des Perrières” and made his wines in used wooden barrels. A name, “pietraia”, that represents one of those widespread toponyms that so often in France identify a place particularly suited to producing excellent wines.

The “Perrières Monopole” from Domaine Gadais originates in the most renowned area of Muscadet, within the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine denomination: we are just outside the town of Nantes, practically at the end of the great Loire run towards the Atlantic. The parcel from which this Melon de Bourgogne of 40 years of age is called Les Perrières and is solely owned by the family: it extends for 1.40 hectares with a full south exposure and is characterized by a subsoil of gneiss, the typical hard metamorphic rock that practically emerges at the surface, covered only by a layer of clay about twenty centimeters thick. As soon as the grapes arrive at the winery, they are placed in stainless steel tanks for a 12-hour cold stabilization. Subsequently, a soft pressing is carried out and fermentation takes place using indigenous yeasts in used 300-liter oak barrels, at controlled temperature for about 20 days. Finally, a very long aging of 32 months sur lies is necessary, in the same woods, to allow all the varietal character to emerge.

The Muscadet “Perrières Monopole” made by Cristophe Gadais expresses itself visually with intense notes of a golden yellow. The aromas are rich and complex and require some swirling to fully release: from the darker notes made of forest hints and toasted references, we move to the sunny citrus sensations and those spicy notes of ginger, with a background of ripe white fruit and stony memories. The sip is rich and creamy, but never loses its balance thanks to a vivacious freshness and an intrinsic juiciness with a long saline finish. A perfect white for Gillardeau oysters or poulet Gaston Gerard.
