Nebbiolo Vajra 2022

The Langhe Nebbiolo from the Piedmontese winery Vajra is a label capable of showing the most direct, pure and accessible side of Nebbiolo, a variety that has written the enological history of Piedmont and Italy in general. It is a very ancient vine, mentioned in documents in the land of Alba as far back as 1292, very sensitive to the pedoclimatic characteristics of the territory and, for this reason, spread only in a few choice places such as the Langhe.

Vajra Langhe Nebbiolo constitutes a pure expression of the black berry variety of the same name from young vines between 10 and 25 years old. The grapes, grown in accordance with the principles of organic farming, are harvested in the early hours of the morning and then mashed in stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation, accompanied by a long and gentle pellicular maceration with complete and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The maturation phase of several months takes place in the same type of wine containers, and after a short period of bottle aging, the wine is ready for market release.

On visual inspection, Vajra's Nebbiolo Langhe shows a transparent, pale ruby red color. Intense, crisp perceptions of violets and roses emerge on the nose, supported by fresh hints of red fruits and fascinating notes of lavender and spearmint. Delicate, fine and dynamic is the taste progression, elegant and with personality, with lively freshness and silky tannins. The finish insists on irresistible floral and red fruit sensations consistent with the nose. A Nebbiolo of remarkable momentum and versatility in food-wine pairing, capable of accompanying a wide range of dishes such as cheese and charcuterie boards, earthy first courses and various meat preparations.
