Pignoli Radikon 2010 - 50cl
Artisanal
Unusual grapesPignoli by Radikon is a powerful red wine with great vigor made from pignolo grapes that they are difficult to tame in the vineyard and require care in the cellar. Complexity and rarity. Nose notes of ripe fruit notes, spicy and vegetal hints. On the palate is vigorous, elegant and silky tannins. It requires patience.
The Pignoli from Radikon is an extraordinary red, with a hard and untameable character, that rewards the most patient tasters. Collio, a land predominantly of orange wine, but also of deep and multifaceted reds, which sometimes may appear shy like the locals, but reward those who see patience as a virtue. Stanko Radikon has undoubtedly been the beacon of Oslavia, and together with Josko Gravner one of the true pioneers of Italian wine. The Pignolo is at the same time one of his most curious and representative creations, exuberant in youth but knows how to relax like only true champions can. More than a wine, it is a tale of a place, of the grape, and of the faces that contributed to making it. Exciting.
The red Pignoli comes from pure Pignolo grapes, derived from vines that rest on a clayey soil typical of Collio called Ponca. Young vines contribute to the production of this red, cultivated as per the manual at Radikon, that is, without the aid of any chemical or synthetic substances. The bunches are harvested at full ripeness and manually selected, and then taken to the cellar for destemming and the subsequent alcoholic fermentation that occurs spontaneously in 25 hectoliter wooden vats. The macération is rather long and lasts about 90 days, after which the racking is performed and the wine is placed in oak barriques, where it will age for 5 years. No clarification or filtration.
The Pignoli wine presents itself in the glass with a garnet red appearance. It captivates from the first sniff, although it is far from immediate and requires patience from those who approach it. Here it is, just awakened from its initial torpor, fanning out in succession a vast number of descriptors ranging from ripe plum to clove, from cinnamon to blackberry jam, from black pepper to menthol hints. On the palate, the liquid reveals all its character, hard yet filling at the same time, driven by a full body and enviable freshness. The tannin's texture is splendid. A bottle for enthusiasts or the curious, that opens new horizons.
