Ribolla Gialla 'Etichetta Nera' Movia 2023
Artisanal
Organic and biodynamicThe Ribolla Gialla "Black Label" is an orange wine with a fine and versatile profile, produced in the Brda area of Slovenia. It remains in contact with the skins for 2 days and then matures for 8 months, 4 of which in barriques and 4 in cement. It has a complex bouquet, with hints of officinal herbs, tropical fruit and iodine hints. Freshness, savouriness and pleasant fatness make the sip taut and pleasant for a long time
The Ribolla Gialla Movia ‘Etichetta Nera’ represents a full and mineral expression of the winemaking tradition of the Slovenian Collio, locally called Goriška Brda. This wine region is located in the westernmost part of Slovenia, bordering Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and is influenced by the concurrent effects of the Julian Alps and the Adriatic Sea, elements that contribute to the peculiar microclimate highly suited for quality viticulture. The grape varieties traditionally cultivated are the same as those in the Friulian Collio, namely Malvasia Istriana, Terrano, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Friulano, and, of course, Ribolla Gialla, alongside the international varieties Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc.
‘Etichetta Nera’ Movia Ribolla Gialla is made from only grapes of the same-named white variety hand-picked at the end of September. In the winery, the bunches are selected, destemmed, and subjected to a cold pre-fermentation maceration for 18 hours. This is followed by soft pressing and alcoholic fermentation of the must conducted by indigenous yeasts, with the subsequent phase of maturation that takes place for 8 months on the fine lees, with 50% of the mass in oak barrels and the remaining half in stainless steel tanks.
The Ribolla Gialla ‘Etichetta Nera’ from the Slovenian winery Movia is a bright straw-yellow color tending towards golden. On the nose, intriguing and complex sensations of tropical fruit, yellow apple, peach, white plum, flowers, citrus, herbal notes, and anise are perceived, combined with evocative hints of iodine. The taste reveals notable freshness and sapidity, elements that balance the richness of the body, making the progression taut and persistent on fruity and mineral perceptions consistent with the olfactory experience. A tasty Ribolla Gialla already enjoyable in youth, yet also capable of sustaining a further prolonged aging in the bottle.
