Ribolla Gialla 'Miklus' Draga 2019
ArtisanalThe Ribolla Gialla "Miklus - Natural Art" is an orange wine of great richness and beautiful complexity: born from a long maceration on the skins and aged in acacia barrels for 48 months. It is warm, full-bodied, structured, and rich in fine tannins, with aromas of dried fruit, spices, and wilted yellow flowers.
The Ribolla Gialla “Miklus - Natural Art” by Draga is a deep and complex orange wine, a wine with an imposing structure that fully embodies the tradition of Collio. The Ribolla has always been considered both a burden and a delight for Friulian and Slovenian producers, because while it is capable of giving life to some of the most refined and peculiar expressions of the area, it is a grape variety that requires great dedication, given its specific characteristics. Patience and passion have never been lacking for the Miklus family, owners of 15 hectares of vineyard right in that magical strip that separates Italy and Slovenia, and always producers of extremely varied territorial expressions. From the basic line, simpler and more enjoyable, to the superior line, endowed with greater class and complexity, the wines share a stylistic signature dedicated to elegance and intensity, which are undoubtedly memorable.
The wine “Miklus Natural Art” is a pure expression of Ribolla Gialla, and more precisely from vines almost 30 years old cultivated in guyot and rooted in the typical soil of Collio, called ponka. In the vineyard, we try to limit human intervention as much as possible, avoiding substances such as herbicides or pesticides, while in the cellar fermentation continues with skin maceration for 14 days in truncated cone oak vats, without the liquid undergoing clarifications or filtrations. The wine ages for 48 months in acacia barrels.
“Natural Art Miklus” Ribolla lights up the glass thanks to its shiny and deep amber hue. The nose is multifaceted and shifting, characterized by notes of dried orange, acacia honey, hazelnut, and aromatic herbs, in an incessant whirl of references. The sip is full and voluminous but compact at the same time, a combination of dense tactile quality and vigorous tannic friction. Rocky.
