The Riesling "Alt Scheidt" from the Peter Lauer winery is a typical white wine from Germany that expresses all the terroir of the area from which it comes. The grapes are carefully selected from ancient vineyards and during fermentation, carried out entirely in steel, only indigenous yeasts are used. The color is brilliant golden yellow and the aromas released gently enchant the nose with fresh fruity and floral sensations. The taste is mineral, light, agile and has excellent balance.

Alt Scheidt by Peter Lauer is a typical and accessible German Riesling, made within the municipality of Ayl, in the Saar wine region, on the border with Luxembourg. This label belongs to the unofficial category of Feinherb, also known as halbtrocken or semi-dry, which identifies those wines with a light but well-perceptible residual sugar, approximately between 10 and 20 g/l. It is a fresh and everyday white, representing the archetype of Saar Riesling. The German term “Alt Scheidt” means “old part”, probably indicating on one hand the traditional style of this white and on the other that some of the vines from which it derives are centuries old.

The Peter Lauer Alt Scheidt is produced from pure Riesling grapes, coming from even centenary vines, rooted in slate soils with slopes between 10 and 50% and exposure from east to west. After harvesting, the bunches are pressed whole and then fermented by only indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The maturation lasts several months in steel on the fine lees, with periodic bâtonnage, in order to enrich the sensory expression of the wine without losing freshness and liveliness.

Peter Lauer Riesling Alt Scheidt reveals a charming bright golden yellow color to the eye. The aromas on the nose are delicate and fine, described by notes of yellow-fleshed fruit that blend with fresh floral hints. Notable is the freshness on the palate that well supports the subtle residual sugar, in a great balance that, combined with the mineral finish, makes the drink extraordinarily agile. A traditional and territorial label that pairs well with not overly structured fish dishes, but can also be enjoyed in company as a refreshing aperitif.
