Organic and biodynamic
Perfect to drink every dayThe Rosso Piceno from the Aurora winery is a wine obtained from spontaneous fermentation of the grapes. On the nose, lively red fruits, underbrush, and jam, spices, coffee, and tobacco are perceived. On the palate, it is a warm, soft wine, with pleasant tannins and persistence.
Rosso Piceno from the Aurora winery is the characteristic territorial blend, where indigenous grapes perfectly combine to create a red wine with a tasty and precise drinkability, suitable for everyday meals or a card game with friends.
The Aurora Agricultural Company produces its Rosso Piceno from the typical blend of Montepulciano and Sangiovese, which share the quota more or less equally. The two varieties come from a vineyard planted about 30 years ago, on medium-textured soils that are fundamentally clayey and characterized by a widespread presence of disintegrated limestone rock. The vines benefit from the southeast exposure that the slopes offer, already sloping towards the Adriatic, in the territory of Offida, which is located near the Abruzzo border, at an altitude that does not exceed 100 meters above sea level. The agronomic approach has been dedicated to biodynamic practices since the foundation of the winery, which took place at the end of the 1970s, and the harvests are carried out naturally by hand, with a yield totaling about 70 quintals per hectare and at different times for the two grapes: in the first ten days of September for the Sangiovese and towards the end of the month for the Montepulciano. The fermentations are spontaneous, conducted solely by indigenous yeasts, in steel tanks for about ten days, at a controlled temperature of around 25°C. At the end of maceration, the pomace is pressed and a static decantation is carried out to separate the lees, then the wines are racked and blended. Bottling is preceded by several months of aging in steel and a light filtration.
Rosso Piceno by Aurora is dressed in a flaming dark ruby red. The nose is rich, immediately expressive with dark floral tones and fruity scents, where blackberry and blackcurrant jam clearly emerge; an underbrush vegetal note introduces final toasted hints of coffee and tobacco notes. The taste is precise, rightly tannic and pleasantly soft, supported by a vigorous freshness that invites drinking. A typical and straightforward red, perfect for pairing with pasta dishes with sauce and roasted meats from the Apennine tradition.
