The Tempranillo 'Zaranda' Tierra Savia is a Spanish red wine produced in Cazalla de la Sierra, near Seville. The climate of southern Spain, the altitude of the vineyard (at 700 meters), and the low yield of the vine leave their mark on the unique character of this red wine, deep, intense, and rich in fruit. The sip is full and enveloping, characterized by a pleasant minerality on the finish, while on the nose it expresses notes of berries, ripe yellow peach, spices, and licorice. A deeply territorial Tempranillo that tells, in its aromatic facets, the story of Andalusia and its landscapes.

The wine-growing reality Tierra Savia presents the Tempranillo ‘Zaranda’, a bottle that showcases an excellent balance between the crispness of the fruit and the deep spiciness imparted by the wood. The relationship between Tempranillo and oak is a happy marriage since the wine produced from this famous Spanish grape variety is particularly well-suited for aging in oak barrels. In Rioja, tradition calls for a long aging in American oak, while in Ribera del Duero, French oak is widely used. José and Pedro of Tierra Savia adopt a combination of the two woods to elevate the expression of this popular variety, specifically represented by the Tempranillo del Sur clone.

The Tempranillo ‘Zaranda’ from Tierra Savia is a 100% Tempranillo grown under certified organic conditions in the Mediterranean climate of Sierra Morena. The vines are very old, recovered by José and Pedro, and rooted in soils rich in red slate at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. The harvest is done by hand and is followed by the alcoholic fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks of 400 and 800 liters, without temperature control and with two daily manual punch downs. Subsequently, the mass ages for 12 months in French and American oak barrels, 20% new, and after an additional 4-8 months of bottle aging, the wine is ready for market release.

Tierra Savia Tempranillo ‘Zaranda’ is of intense ruby red color. The aromatic spectrum is defined by fruity notes of ripe red fruits and yellow peach, combined with hints of spices and licorice. The taste is rich, juicy, and enveloping, with marked tannins and a pleasant savory-mineral vein on the finish. Long persistence on fruity and spicy sensations consistent with the nose.
