“Come Away with Me” from Azienda Agricola Toscani is a red wine produced on the estate of the famous photographer Oliviero Toscani and managed by his son Rocco. The vineyards are located inland from Bibbona, not far from the sea, in a part of Tuscany particularly suited for the cultivation of international grape varieties. The climate and soils have proven particularly suitable for Cabernet Franc, the oldest of the Bordeaux varieties. The wine is a perfect synthesis of warm Mediterranean aromas and the noble traditions of Bordeaux. The long aging in wood allows the wine to present itself with a particularly elegant and evolved character, capable of expressing a complex, fresh, and mineral bouquet.
The wine “Come Away with Me” is one of the flagship labels of Oliviero Toscani's estate and winemaker Rocco. It is a Classic Agricultural Company, covering a total area of 160 hectares, with woods, olive groves, and arable land. The 12 hectares of vineyard are cultivated in the best exposures, at an altitude between 220 and 230 meters. The cool climate, tempered by the sea breezes, and the stony soils, rich in minerals, are perfect for bringing the Cabernet Franc grapes to full ripeness, which in Tuscany expresses itself with particularly rich grapes. The high-quality raw material and a careful winemaking process allow for the production of a wine with an intense and refined character, which very well expresses the authentic face of the terroir.
The red “Come Away with Me” is a pure Cabernet Franc, produced with the best grapes from the Monteromboli vineyard. The vines are about 20 years old and are grown on soils rich in iron minerals. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with maceration on the skins for about 20 days. The wine ages for 12 months in French oak tonneau and completes the aging with an additional 12 months in bottle. It presents a dark ruby red color. The olfactory profile recalls aromas of currants and small dark berries, hints of aromatic herbs from the Mediterranean scrub, delicate spicy and toasted nuances. On the palate, it has agood structure, with complex aromas and a fine tannic texture. The finish is harmonious, fresh, and persistent.
