Zibibbo Secco Barraco 2024
ArtisanalThe Zibibbo by Barraco is a dry and intense expression of the famous Sicilian grape variety, aged for 8 months in steel. Rich aromas of citrus peel, aromatic herbs and fresh ginger animate a dry, spicy and complex sip, with great sapidity.
The Zibibbo Secco by Nino Barraco is an enchanting squeeze of sea and island, which stands as a true flag of Sicily. Indeed, if we had to name an iconic producer of the region as well as an absolute reference point for the world of artisanal wines, Nino would probably be the first on the list. A journey that has been ongoing for 16 years, during which experimentation and self-criticism have always prevailed over self-satisfaction, despite results already deemed extraordinary by many enthusiasts. The search for a precise stylistic balance has led Nino to abandon overly long macerations, to favor the distinctive characteristics of each grape variety and to enhance that refined saline texture that distinguishes his liquids, which in the case of Zibibbo become a perfect junction between intoxicating aromas and essentiality. Top player.
The dry Zibibbo by Barraco is obtained from pure grapes of the same name coming from vineyards located near Marsala. In the vineyard, Nino's approach is methodical and respectful, therefore no chemical or synthetic substances, in order to preserve the vitality of the rich heritage available. In the winery, spontaneous alcoholic fermentation continues with a very short maceration on the skins. The liquid matures in steel and is neither filtered nor clarified, but only added with a very small dose of sulfur before bottling.
The Zibibbo by Barraco lights up the glass with its enchanting intense golden hue. Mind-blowing nose, which can literally make you lose your head and in which there is everything and more: the orange blossom, the apricot, the salted caper, the fennel, the wild herbs. A lysergic mix that could herald an opulent sip, and instead the liquid surprises those who approach it, with a refined tasting dynamic played entirely on drinkability. Saline length that makes you crave island food, and indeed we imagine this nectar accompanying a pasta with sardines, raisins, pine nuts, and breadcrumbs.
