The "Classique" from the South African winery Rupert Rothschild is a red wine blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The grapes undergo an initial alcoholic fermentation in steel, followed by malolactic fermentation in concrete, and the winemaking concludes with a 16-month aging in French oak barrels. The nose is rich in fruity and underbrush notes that pair well with duck breast and artichokes.

The “Classique” by Rupert Rothschild is an excellent Bordeaux blend produced in South Africa, from a winery that combines the savoir-faire of the Rothschild family of Château Lafite with one of the best terroirs in South Africa. It is a wine with a classic, elegant, pleasantly fruity profile and good aromatic complexity. The excellent quality of the grapes from the most famous international red grape varieties typical of the Bordeaux area, combined with careful vinification, gives a wine of excellent level, with a soft, harmonious, and seductive profile, perfect to enjoy with roasted red meats, spit-roasted meats, or grilled dishes.

The Western Cape Red “Classique” by Rupert Rothschild is the result of the desire to produce a red wine with a typically French profile in South Africa. A simple task when the company is led by two legendary names in the wine world like the Rothschild family and the Rupert family. It is born from a balanced blend made with a majority percentage of Merlot, which provides softness.fruity, integrated with the structure and aromatic richness of Cabernet Sauvignon, the elegant freshness of Cabernet Franc, and the typically spicy touch of Petit Verdot. The vines are between 9 and 30 years old, and the vinifications take place separately for each variety, based on the different harvest times. The grape clusters are harvested by hand, and only the most mature and healthy grapes are sent for fermentation in stainless steel and cement tanks with a maceration on the skins for a few weeks. Before bottling, the wine matures for a period of 16 months in French oak barrels.

The Western Cape Red “Classique” from the South African winery Rupert Rothschild is a Bordeaux blend that can be enjoyed immediately to appreciate its fruity character, but it can also be stored in the cellar for a period of 5-6 years. In the glass, it shows a beautiful intense and bright ruby color. The olfactory profile is very elegant, characterized by fragrant aromas of cherry, red plum, black currant, blackberry, blueberry, hints of aromatic herbs, shady sensations of underbrush, humus, and delicately spicy nuances. The sip has good structure, with a ripe and rich fruit, supported by a tannic texture well integrated into the body of the wine. The finish is long, fresh, and has good taste persistence.
