Nuits St Georges Rouge Philippe Pacalet 2022

This Nuits Saint Georges by Pacalet Philippe is an elegant Pinot Noir produced in one of the world's most important areas for red wine production. This winery works with artisanal methods, such as minimal intervention in the vineyard, use of indigenous yeasts and passage in spent barrels. The result is a wine with a remarkable structure for a Pinot Bourgogne, structured and mineral, with an intense fruity bouquet, which nicely contours fascinating hints of spices and musky hints on the finish. The palate reveals itself to be textural, of great juice and complexity, with an almost chalky texture of tannins that gives it surprising depth. A wine son of the multifaceted terroir of Burgundy

NUITS ST GEORGES ROUGE PHILIPPE PACALET 2022 DESCRIPTION

Through its assertive yet elegant character, the Nuits-Saint-Georges Rouge from renowned artisanal producer Philippe Pacalet effectively conveys the stylistic archetype of the appellation. Combining his work as a vigneron with that of négociant, Philippe manages to process grapes from the most diverse and prestigious areas of Burgundy, from Beaujolais to Chablis, passing, of course, through the famous Côte d'Or. In addition to Burgundy, he also vinifies grapes from Cornas, Rhône. Philippe's aim is to emphasise the more intimate character of these prized wine territories, cultivating the grapes in a sustainable manner and vinifying them using a non-interventionist oenological approach.

The Nuits-Saint-Georges Philippe Pacalet Rouge is a 100% Pinot Noir from vines of an average age of 50 years that are sustainably cultivated within the Nuits-Saint-Georges area. The vines stand on a clay-limestone soil composed of a layer of pebbles and clay laid on a limestone substrate, with an eastern exposure. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified whole cluster with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation accompanied by approximately 3 weeks of maceration on the skins, without temperature control. The subsequent malolactic fermentation and 16 months' maturation on the fine lees take place in traditional Burgundian pièces and after a further 2 months' rest in large casks the wine is finally bottled. The entire vinification and ageing is then carried out in reduction so as to exclude any addition of sulphur dioxide.

Philippe Pacalet's Nuits-Saint-Georges Rouge has a soft ruby red colour. The complex and refined aromatic bouquet releases notes of small fruits such as cherry and blueberry, embroidered with peculiar nuances of musk and deep hints of oriental spices. On the palate it is very broad and important in structure, with the fine tannic texture and incisive sapid-mineral trail contributing to the fleshy sensation on the finish.
