Vajra Winery's "Petracine" Riesling is the brainchild of Aldo Vaira, a true pioneer of this international variety in Piedmont. Aldo originated the first bottle in 1985, and since then, the winery has dedicated itself with the dedication to the development of this variety within the Langhe terroir. Today the "Petracine" is in dazzling form, with a balanced freshness from which typical flint notes emerge. A label born of passion, curiosity and the desire to challenge oneself, characteristics that accompany Vajra's work every day.
This "Petracine" is a Riesling that comes from the grapes of the same name, used in purity by the Vajra winery team. The vines of this variety are grown within the Fossati vineyard, in the highest part of the terroir from which Barolo is produced, and in Bertone, in the municipality of Sinio. The berries, harvested in the first half of September, are softly pressed and, after a brief cold decantation, begin alcoholic fermentation, which lasts for 15-20 days. This is followed by ageing, in which the wine rests for a half year in steel containers before being bottled and marketed.
The white Riesling wine "Petracine" announces itself on visual examination with a light greenish colour, crossed by reflections tending to straw yellow. The nose is dominated by notes of yellow-fleshed fruit, enriched on the finish by more floral effluvia. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and rounded, with an aromatic sip marked by a pleasantly fresh and savoury vein; it ends with a finish of excellent persistence. Vajra, an important name in the Langhe wine scene, gives birth to a white wine with character and personality, which garners positive reviews from leading Italian and foreign wine critics.
