Marzadro is a leading name in the panorama of quality grappa, a historic distillery founded in the post-war period by a poor peasant family from Trentino, which soon became synonymous withTrentino excellence in the art of distillation. It was founded in 1949 by a woman, Sabina Marzadro, who inaugurated a small production using a small direct fire still, delegating the sale of bottles to her younger brother Attilio. After decades of hard work and great success, the distillery, now led by the third family generation, is a great model of efficiency, driven by a spirit of initiative, brilliant intuition and respect for territorial and family traditions. Cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship are today the main criteria, perfectly harmonised with each other, on which production is based..
The Marzadro distillery is located in Nogaredo, surrounded by the mountains of Trentino, and is housed in a modern structure of stone, wood and glass that is in complete harmony with the charming surrounding area, designed by architects Walter Maurmayr and Gunther Plaickner. The roof of the structure is covered externally with a green carpet on which more than 60,000 plants are cultivated, ensuring good thermal insulation and promoting energy saving. The beautiful still room houses 8 discontinuous stills powered by bain-marie: a copper forest lit by a vast glass dome. Only fresh marc still dripping with must is distilled here, which is why only 100 days per year are distilled, using computer systems that guarantee 24-hour continuity. The spacious ageing rooms contain many barrels made of precious woods and, since a few years, also Tuscan terracotta amphorae.
The production of Marzadro grappas is vast and varied. It includes traditional Trentino pomace distillates, single-varietal labels, produced since the 1970s, and liqueurs. The Stravecchia 'Le Diciotto Lune' stands out for its fame and prestige, together with the aged grappas of the Giare line, very elegant high-profile labels with modern appeal. Since 2017, a very innovative white grappa has also been produced, aged in terracotta amphorae and destined to revolutionise the world of spirits.
