Rosso di Ronc Platat is a blend of Refosco and Merlot grapes from the Colli Orientali del Friuli. After ageing for 9 months in oak barrels, it presents a soft and enveloping body, with a delicate tannic texture and pleasant freshness. The wine is enriched with notes of sweet spices, red fruit and slight hints of leather.
Ronc Plat's Friuli Colli Orientali Rosso symbolises the complementarity of native and international grape varieties found in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. In fact, this bottle derives from a blend of Merlot and Refosco, two varieties with very different histories, which in the Colli Orientali del Friuli area manage to intertwine in total harmony, demonstrating the extraordinary vocation of the territory. Ronc Plat's production somewhat reflects the vocation of the eastern side of Friuli, capable of producing excellent whites, among the best in all of Italy, but also capable of surprising with its reds of absolute depth.
Friuli Colli Orientali Ronc Plat Rosso derives from a combination of Merlot and Refosco grapes grown sustainably on the so-called 'ponca', a type of soil very characteristic of Collio formed by alternating layers of marl and sandstone. When the berries have reached the correct stage of ripeness, the grapes are harvested by hand, with the bunches then placed partly in steel containers and partly in wooden barrels for alcoholic fermentation in contact with the skins. Once the fermentation process is complete, the wine is placed to age for 9 months in oak barrels of several passages and is finally left to rest for several months in the bottle before its definitive release.
The colour of Rosso Ronc Plat Friuli Colli Orientali is a luminous ruby red. The aromatic bouquet presents vivid fruity scents of cherry and wild berries, enriched by hints of sweet spices and mineral notes. The taste is rich, warm and enveloping, well supported by the marked freshness and soft, sweet tannins. On the finish, the fruity and spicy sensations previously perceived on the nose return
