Whisky Single Malt Ben Nevis 6 yo Artist Collective 2014

From the Artist Collective project comes Ben Nevis 6 Year Old Single Malt Whisky, a distillate with a sweet and mellow aromatic profile. Artist Collective is the project launched by the French brand La Maison du Whisky in collaboration with leading Scottish distilleries, such as Ben Nevis, with the intention of reflecting each area and style of Scotch Whisky Single Malt. This whisky is 'Unchill filtered', an expression used to indicate that the distillate has not undergone any cold filtration. This means that it should not be served cold with ice as the low temperature may cause turbidity to appear.
Artist Collective Ben Nevis Whisky Single Malt 6 Years Old is made from pure barley malt. The malting process involves steeping the barley grains in water to promote germination and thus the conversion of starch into simple sugars. This is followed by fermentation by yeast and the fermented product is then distilled in discontinuous stills by the Ben Nevis distillery. The ensuing ageing process lasts for 6 long years and takes place in oak casks previously used for sherry maturation and therefore capable of bringing unique aromas to the distillate.
Ben Nevis Artist Collective Whisky Single Malt 6 Years Old is bright amber in colour. Hints of chocolate, cinnamon, ginger, walnut and herbs emerge on the nose, followed by pleasant notes of tropical fruit and dried figs. Sweet and smooth on the palate, characterised by irresistible sensations of resin, beeswax, sweet spices and candied citrus fruits.
