"In Ischia you can', you can turn a dream into a concrete reality. This is the slogan of Alice, founder of the Bajola d'Alice, a modest, young winery on the island of Ischia. Alice Iacono, a theatrical actress, has lived among the vines since she was a child with the goal of one day becoming a wine producer. Born in Riva del Garda, but with Ischia in her soul, she is the daughter of Francesco Iacono, a native of the island and director of ONAV, and Antonella Pani, a Florentine restorer. In 2013, the dream became reality with the production of the company's first creation, a blend of marine grapes from the island's ancient tradition. The winery is located in the village of Forio, where the sea, volcanic soil and terraces bordered by dry stone walls paint an enchanted place. Bajola d'Alice is also the fusion of eco-sustainability, biodynamic methods and respect for nature. In fact, the winery believes that this land should be preserved and safeguarded as one of the most precious heritages of the Italian peninsula. Only through this passion and awareness can the true and sincere essence of the Ischian territory emerge.

The Bajola d'Alice winery cultivates Viognier, Vermentino, Incrocio Manzoni, Malvasia delle Lipari and Sauvignon Blanc, varieties that are not strictly local but testify to the past when the island was a meeting point of trade between north and south. This explains why varieties from the far north, such as Incrocio Manzoni, and grapes from the deep south of Italy, such as Malvasia delle Lipari, coexist. The vines are grown using the classic Guyot system on sandy, volcanic soil, laid out in terraces formed by small walls of green tuff, known as paraccine, which cover just under one hectare. In the vineyard, all forms of chemical and artificial intervention are banned, and a purely biodynamic approach is followed. In the cellar, the same approach is adopted, with alcoholic fermentation using only indigenous yeasts and a long maceration period on the skins. The vinification phase is conducted inside palmenti, ancient glazed cement tanks, used in the past to collect rainwater. No filtration, clarification or addition of sulphites occurs to maintain the integrity of the fruit.

Only 3,000 bottles are produced in a single type: Bajola. An iridescent and exciting orange wine that combines the Mediterranean breath of the south, the sun of the island and the exemplary passion of Alice. In addition, Bajola is presented in a new version that bears the name of the terracotta barrels where it is produced, known as Tiani.
