Gavi La Raia 'Pleo' 2024
Organic and biodynamic
Perfect to drink every dayThe Gavi de La Raia is a fresh, clear, and elegant white wine, characterized by delicate fragrances of yellow fruit and white flowers. The sip is harmonious and mineral, perfect for delicate dishes based on fish or vegetables
Gavi La Raia is a wine that primarily interprets the tradition of the territory from which it comes and manages to fully showcase the potential and uniqueness of the Cortese grape. We are in Novi Ligure, along the Monterotondo road, in a winery of 2500 square meters that is an example for the entire Piedmontese wine territory: technology, tradition, and a sense of aesthetics coexist perfectly, with the true jewel of the pisé wall: a wall 40 meters long and 5 meters high, partially buried, made exclusively of rammed earth.
The perfect fusion with the hill behind it, the organic nature, and the splendid context in which it is set, make this technique that uses “raw earth” a clear example of harmony between earth and man. The La Raia winery follows the biodynamic method: cultivation without fertilizers and synthetic chemicals, enhanced by a conscious and conscientious use of the land, respecting the vital resources present within it. Horn manure and horn silica, the two main preparationsSteinerian, improve the quality of the grapes and the harvests.
The soil where Gavi de La Raia is born is calcareous and clayey and extends, with a South-East-West exposure, at 400 meters above sea level. The harvest is done by hand in the second half of September, and the must is left to ferment in stainless steel tanks. After 3-4 months of aging on the lees, the wine is bottled in March. The result is a Gavi with a straw-yellow color that presents itself to the nose with beautiful very fine mineral notes, expressing aromas of fruit and white flowers. On the palate, it is always lively, balanced, with beautiful freshness and pleasant persistence. Perfect as an aperitif, it pairs excellently with first courses based on fish and vegetables, but it also goes splendidly with white meats and fresh cheeses. A biodynamic Gavi that will win you over with its sweet and pleasant citrus notes and is a perfect companion for those who want to start discovering biodynamic wines.
