Caricagiola Rosato Vigne Surrau 2023
Caricagiola Rosato produced by the Vigne Surrau winery in the Gallura area is the perfect combination of freshness and taste. The grapes of the same name, after careful selection, are softly pressed and the must ferments in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The brilliant light pink colour fills the glass delicately while aromas of small red berries and floral notes are released. The taste is mineral, fruity, crunchy, slightly savoury and with a well-balanced finish.
The Caricagiola Rosato by Vigne Surrau is an original wine, made from the homonymous native red grape variety, which has been present for centuries in the north of Sardinia, particularly in the lands of Gallura. It is a true excellence with a typically territorial face, revealing the character of a very interesting grape that is yet to be discovered, enhanced by this young reality in the Sardinian wine scene. It is a fragrant, fresh, and savory rosé, dedicated to those who are always in search of surprising novelties. It is a perfect bottle to enjoy with shellfish appetizers, a pasta with scampi, and delicate seafood stews.
The Rosato Caricagiola by Vigne Surrau comes from the vineyards of the estate, located in the wonderful and wild hilly area between Arzachena and the coastline of the Costa Smeralda. The climate is warm and dry, mitigated by the presence of gentle sea breezes and the powerful breath of the Maestrale. The soils are particularly suitable for vine cultivation, composed of the disintegration of granite rocks, which still today characterize the landscape of Gallura. The grapes are pressed very gently with a brief contact with the skins, and the must is vinified in white with fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Before proceeding to bottling, the wine matures for several months in steel tanks, thus preserving all the varietal fragrance.
The Caricagiola Rosato by Vigne Surrau is a wine of remarkable personality, which expresses very well the character of the Gallura territory. The centuries-old interaction between a native grape variety, rocky soils, and the Mediterranean microclimate gives a pleasantly fruity and marine rosé. In the glass, it presents itself with a beautiful pale pink color with luminous reflections. The bouquet is fragrant and delicate, with floral scents of rose petal, aromas of raspberry, red currant, marasca, wild strawberries, hints of citrus peel, pink grapefruit, and iodized memories. The sip is savory, with fruity, soft, and creamy aromas, and a finish of clear mineral freshness.
