CARIGNANO DEL SULCIS RISERVA 'ROCCA RUBIA' SANTADI 2021 DESCRIPTION

"Rocca Rubia" is a Carignano del Sulcis Riserva with which the Santadi winery rightfully enters the Olympus of Sardinian producers of excellence. A label with variegated tones and an excellent personality, it fully achieves the objective that the winery has set itself since the beginning of its history in 1960: the enhancement of a native grape, the Carignano, which is perfectly capable of giving life to great reds, which have nothing to envy to the more noble wines from Piedmont or Tuscany. A goal also achieved thanks to labels such as "Rocca Rubia," a Riserva that promises to evolve over time with balance and complexity.

Santadi's Carignano del Sulcis Riserva "Rocca Rubia" is made from grapes sourced from straight-foot vineyards where the vines are trained according to the traditional alberello method. The terroir consists mainly of sand and clay and is low in organic matter. The grapes, after being harvested by hand, ferment and macerate for about 12 to 14 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel; this is followed by ageing, carried out in french oak barrels of first and second passage for between 10 and 12 months.

The wine "Rocca Rubia" is a Carignano del Sulcis Riserva that presents itself to the eye with an impenetrable and deep colour reminiscent of ruby red. The olfactory spectrum that comes alive on the nose highlights fruity and spicy notes, enhanced by light floral and spicy touches, which contribute to making its aromatic profile very interesting. The palate is full-bodied and enveloping, with a tannic texture that is both lively and velvety. A great wine without a shadow of a doubt, where Carignano touches qualitative heights that place Santadi among the greatest producers in all of Sardinia.
