Dolcetto d'Alba 'Falletto' Bruno Giacosa 2024
The Dolcetto by Bruno Giacosa is a red wine that matures for two months in oak barrels and is made from Dolcetto grapes in Serralunga d'Alba. It is an expressive wine, with an excellent taste-aroma correspondence, featuring youthful freshness supported by a light, soft structure and great drinkability and cleanliness.
The Dolcetto "Falletto" by Bruno Giacosa is a fresh and juicy everyday wine, endowed with great gastronomic versatility. The name Bruno Giacosa is synonymous with a legend in Langarola viticulture, capable like few others of creating bottles whose immortality has yet to be disproved by time. Barolo and Barbaresco first and foremost, but also other local indigenous varieties such as Barbera, Dolcetto, and Arneis, always interpreted in the stylistic hallmark dear to Bruno, that of classicism, with aging strictly in large wood and a respectful approach towards vineyard and winemaking. Despite his passing leaving an unfillable void, the winery continues Bruno's production lines, remaining an absolute reference point in the landscape of Italian wine.
The "Falletto" Dolcetto d'Alba comes from pure grapes of the eponymous variety purchased from carefully selected locals, a practice long established in Langarola viticulture. The idea is to preserve intact the characteristics of drinkability and carefree of the grape variety, therefore a respectful and non-invasive agriculture corresponds to spontaneous fermentation in steel containers and an aging of only two months in oak barrels. The liquid rests for another three months in the bottle before being put on the market.
The Dolcetto d'Alba wine presents itself in its typical ruby dress edged with violet reflections. The nose is extremely cheerful and winey, all expressed through sensations of fresh fruit, such as currants and raspberries, and floral hints of violet and dog rose. It delights with its carefree nature, although the nonchalance with which it reveals itself should not be confused with simplicity. A very fresh sip, it is a juice of red fruits that makes drinkability its greatest strength, although it does not give up a meaty part. The tannin, with a very fine grain, suggests the most varied pairings, from cold cuts to savory pies, from dressed first courses to delicate cheeses and fresh pasta. Always and everywhere on the everyday table.
