Fiano di Avellino Ciro Picariello 2024
Callmewine's FavouritesThe Fiano di Avellino by Ciro Picariello is one of the most authentic and unmissable expressions of Irpinia. It is an expressive wine, aged in steel for 10 months and characterized by aromas of wildflowers, fruit, and aromatic herbs. The sip is fresh and savory, clear and satisfying.
The Fiano di Avellino from the Campania estate Ciro Picariello is a white wine with notable territorial and varietal adherence, produced by a winery that has significantly contributed to the enhancement of Fiano di Avellino since the new millennium. It all began in 2004, when Ciro Picariello and his partner Rita Guerriero started their winemaking project in Summonte, in the heart of the Fiano di Avellino production area. Over the following years, the estate has established itself nationally and internationally, focusing on a modern style that respects tradition, derived from the skillful use of technology.
The Fiano di Avellino Ciro Picariello is produced from only Fiano grapes grown in two areas, one in Summonte at an altitude of 650 meters above sea level and the other in Montefredane at 500 meters, with both plots rooted in soils made up of sandy clay marls and conglomerates of upper sandstones. The Summonte vineyard dates back to 1992 and faces northeast, while the Montefredane vines were planted in 2002 withsoutheast exposure. Following the manual harvest, the grapes undergo a strict selection in the winery before gentle direct pressing. The must obtained is then left to cold decant for 24 hours, after which alcoholic fermentation takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, the same containers where the 10 months on fine lees aging occurs with frequent bâtonnage.
The color of the Fiano di Avellino from Ciro Picariello is straw yellow with green-gold reflections. The nose is typical and expressive, characterized by hints of wildflowers, apple, rosemary, and dried fruit that blend with evocative mineral perceptions of flint. On the palate, it is elegant, fresh, and savory, with excellent persistence of citrus and white-fleshed fruit sensations.
