"Upupa Rot" by Weingut Abraham is a delicate and agile red wine from Alto Adige made with Schiava grapes and a small part of Pinot Noir. It expresses freshness, fragrance, and juiciness, with an intense and pure texture, rich in notes of berries, strawberry, cherry, rose, and vanilla

The Schiava “Upupa Rot” by Weingut Abraham is the wine of tradition, dedicated to the most famous indigenous red grape variety of Alto Adige. A true protagonist of the South Tyrolean vineyard, Schiava has been the most cultivated variety for centuries, until the post-war revolution, which saw the gradual affirmation of international white grape varieties. Today it is still cultivated in the classic areas with increasingly accurate vinifications that highlight its fresh, fruity, fragrant, and elegant character. Its expressive finesse makes it very versatile at the table and pleasant to taste even in summer, at a slightly cool temperature of 12-14 °C.

“Upupa Rot” is an excellent quality version of Schiava, made by one of the most interesting wineries in Alto Adige. Weingut Abraham produces high-quality artisanal wines that directly express the characteristics of the territory. The grapes come from vineyards located in the Rosslauf area, between Appiano and Caldaro, in a hilly area at an altitude of 450 meters above sea level with a well-sunny exposure. The soils are of ancient morainic origin, with components of porphyries and more recent alluvial deposits. The vines are over 50 years old and are trained according to the traditional pergola system. The bunches are selected in the vineyard before harvest and left to ripen as long as possible to achieve maximum aromatic richness. At the end of the harvest, a complete destemming is carried out. This is followed by fermentation in wooden vats, using only indigenous yeasts and a maceration on the skins of about three weeks. The wine matures for 15 months on the fine lees in 500-liter oak barrels.

The red Schiava “Upupa Rot” by Weingut Abraham is made with a majority percentage of Schiava, complemented by a small addition of Pinot Nero, which enhances the elegance and finesse of the wine. In the glass, it presents a bright light ruby color. The bouquet is characterized by delicate floral aromas, raspberry aromas,
