It can evolve in the cellar over 10 years, acquiring more and more finesse and power over time
The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Riserva ‘Castelfiora’ from the Marche winery Tombolini represents an interpretation of the territory of great complexity, also endowed with an extraordinary longevity. The ‘Castelfiora’ brand was launched in 1972 by Giovanni Tombolini, who chose to combine his wife Fioretta's name with the Torrione dell’Albornoz, a symbol of the Castle of Staffolo and the family’s property. The colors chosen for the label and capsule refer to the matrix of the soils on which the grapes grow, characterized by a high content of clay and sandstone, capable of imparting power and at the same time finesse to the wine.
The ‘Castelfiora’ Tombolini Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Riserva comes from a selection of the best Verdicchio grapes cultivated organically on sandy and clay soils located at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The harvest, carried out entirely by hand during the second decade of October, is followed by the soft pressing of the bunches, with only the mustflower that is channeled into stainless steel tanks for the start of alcoholic fermentation, a process that continues in wooden barrels and ceramic amphorae. A portion of the grapes remains in contact with the skins and the maturation of 10 months occurs for part of the mass in French oak barrels.
The Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi ‘Castelfiora’ Classico Superiore Riserva from the Tombolini estate has an intense straw yellow color with golden reflections. The nose offers complex hints of apricot, green melon, white flowers, thyme, and mint, combined with notes of vanilla and cream chantilly due to the aging in oak. On the palate, despite its significant structure, it shows great balance, with a long savory and balsamic finish as a complement.
