The Chopin 'Rye' Vodka is a rye-based vodka produced in Poland, by the historic Chopin distillery. This vodka is designed to bring out the complexity and spicy notes of Polish rye, grown on the acres surrounding the distillery. The result is a warm, enveloping vodka that is crisp and liveably spicy on the palate, that captivates with its unexpected spicy profile

The ‘Rye’ Vodka from the Polish distillery Chopin is characterized as a vodka with a distinct peppery character that gives a very slight spicy sensation on the palate. Vodka is a type of spirit originating from Poland and Russia, obtained from the distillation of potatoes or grains such as rye and wheat. The earliest documented traces of this distillate date back to 1405, the year of a register from Sandomierz, Poland, which mentions the word “wodka”. The Polish term “wodka” literally means “little water”, referring to the crystalline and transparent appearance of this distillate that indeed resembles water.

Chopin ‘Rye’ Vodka originates from pure Polish rye sustainably cultivated by local farmers located near the distillery. After harvesting, the rye is germinated so that the complex sugars contained in the grain are broken down into simple sugars that can be metabolized by yeasts. This is followed by milling and the addition of water from an artesian spring that flows just below the estate.artesian spring flowing just below the estate. The must obtained is fermented in steel tanks thanks to the inoculation of a specially selected yeast strain. This is followed by the distillation of the mass in an old copper still dating back to the 19th century, one of the oldest still in all of Poland still in operation. Finally, after a couple of weeks of resting in wooden barrels, the vodka is bottled.

Visually, Chopin's 'Rye' Vodka presents itself with a transparent and crystalline appearance. The nose opens with pungent notes of ground black pepper, soon joined by subtle and fragrant aromas of rye bread. Round and medium-bodied on the palate, characterized by a slight spicy sensation that accompanies the crisp finish.
